Analyzing the three biggest commitments of the past week
SI.com is analyzing the three biggest commitments of the past week. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa pledged to Alabama, defensive end Joshua Kaindoh announced he plans to attend Maryland and athlete Demetris Robertson, a member of the class of 2016, revealed that he’s headed to Cal. Below is some information on each of the three prospects, with analysis from Scout.com.
Tua Tagovailoa
Position: Quarterback
Height/Weight: 6’1’’/216 lbs
High School: Saint Louis (Hawaii) School
Scout.com position rank: 5
Scout.com national rank: 43
Analysis (from Scout.com)
Tagovailoa is a strong armed lefty with a cannon for an arm. He’s a dual threat quarterback who can escape pressure and make big plays with his legs. He also shows the poise to make that first defender miss, roll out and throws very good on the run. He has a strong body and plays with plenty of toughness. He shows very nice tough on the deeper throws and projects as a high major QB at the next level.
Joshua Kaindoh
Position: Defensive end
Height/Weight: 6’6’’/228 lbs
High School: IMG (Fla.) Academy
Scout.com position rank: 7
Scout.com national rank: 90
Analysis (from Scout.com)
Kaindoh is a freakish athlete, with a combination of size, length and burst. He gets up the field in two steps and has the speed to get around the edge. He is also effective dropping into coverage, and he can chase plays down from behind. Kaindoh has the strength to bull rush, but what stands out the most is his quickness, change of direction and pure speed in covering 10 yards with long strides.
Demetris Robertson
Position: Athlete
Height/Weight: 6’1’’/180 lbs
High School: Savannah Christian Preparatory (Ga.) School
Scout.com position rank: 3
Scout.com national rank: 23
Analysis (from Scout.com)
Where do you want Robertson to play? He is a top athlete who could project as a free safety, wide receiver or slot on the next level. His hands are a real strength and he is consistent there and has shown he can make the tough catches. Not elite top-end speed, but good release off the ball, quick and subtle moves when he gets the ball, and a real weapon on the offensive side. Robertson loves to compete and he goes hard at all times.
