Alabama has hired longtime NFL assistant coach Karl Dunbar as its new defensive line coach, Dunbar announced Monday on Twitter.

Dunbar played three seasons in the NFL and has coached the position group at the college and NFL levels dating back to 1998. His stops included stints with the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and most recently, the Buffalo Bills. He was fired earlier this spring. Dunbar has also coached at LSU and Oklahoma State.

He replaces Bo Davis, who left the Crimson Tide program in April following recruiting violations and an internal investigation by the university.

Alabama went 14–1 last season on its way to winning the College Football Playoff.
