UConn head football coach Bob Diaco received two-year contract extension that will run through the 2020 season, the school announced on Monday.

SI.com's Pete Thamel was the first to report the news.

Diaco, 43, will earn $2 million in 2019 and $2.1 million in 2020. In Diaco's two seasons at the helm, UConn has an 8-17 record.

The Huskies closed out last season with a 16-10 loss to Marshall in the St. Petersburg Bowl. UConn has not won more than six games in a season since finishing with an 8–5 record in 2010.

Diaco previously served as the Notre Dame defensive coordinator from 2010 to 2013.
