San Diego State forward Malik Pope will withdraw from the NBA draft and return to school for the 2016–17 season, he announced Monday on Twitter.

“I’ve decided after talking with my mom and my coaches that I’m gonna withdraw my name from the NBA draft tomorrow, 5/24,” Pope tweeted.

As a sophomore this past season, Pope averaged 7.3 points and 5.0 rebounds. He averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds during March, en route to leading the Aztecs to the NIT finals.

If he remained in the draft, Pope was expected to be selected in the second round.
