Flutie, who is the nephew of former BC star and 1984 Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, has been suspended from the program due to the arrest.

“Troy has been suspended from the football team by Coach Steve Addazio pending further investigation and faces the possibility of additional University sanctions pending the outcome of the court proceedings,” a Boston College statement said.

According to the report, the 20-year-old was arrested after a car crash on Saturday. He was later charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open container of alcohol while driving and being under 21 in possession of alcohol.

Flutie, a rising redshirt sophomore, began his career at BC as a quarterback and threw for 382 yards last season. He has since been converted to receiver.
