The Sun Belt will add a conference championship game in 2018, reports ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

Every other FBS conference either has a conference title game or has planned to hold one in the future. The Big 12 recently became the last Power Five conference to decide to hold a championship game.

The Sun Belt will not play its title game until the 2018 season likely due to upcoming conference restructuring. Idaho and New Mexico State are leaving the conference after the 2017 season, while Coastal Carolina will join in 2018. When Coastal Carolina joins, the conference will have 10 teams, the new minimum requirement to hold a league title game.

The news is expected to be officially announced Wednesday. The Sun Belt and Big 12 will be the only FBS conferences without championship games this upcoming season.
