Brandon Vandenburg found guilty on all charges in rape re-trial

Former Vanderbilt football player Brandon Vandenburg was found guilty on five counts of aggravated rape, two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one county of unlawful photography, according to Natalie Neysa Alund of The Tennessean.
After six days of testimony, a jury deliberated for just over four hours before reaching their verdict. The judge accepted the jury's findings and Vandenburg's bond was revoked.
In the first trial, Vandenburg and former teammate Cory Batey were found guilty of four counts of aggravated rape, one count of attempted aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery after a female student was raped inside a Vanderbilt dorm room in 2013. Vandenburg was also found guilty of evidence tampering and unlawful photography. A judge later declared a mistrial after discovering the jury foreman did not disclose he was a victim of statutory rape.
Vandenburg's defense argued that he did not have sexual contact with the victim but told police during an interview that he did have consensual sex with the victim the next day.
Sentencing for the guilty charges will be set at a later date.
