Freshman defensive back Chad Clay has been dismissed from the Georgia football team after being arrested for the second time in three months, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

Clay was booked on a misdemeanor theft charge on Wednesday after another student reported his $30 Apple headphones had been stolen.

“Unfortunately, Chad will no longer be a part of our football program,” coach Kirby Smart said in a statement. “It is very disappointing, and we wish him the best in his efforts to continue his education.”

Clay was previously arrested in April on two felony charges of having a weapon in a school safety zone and second-degree criminal damage to property after he and teammate Julian Rochester shot a BB gun in a dorm room.

Despite his arrest, Rochester remains on the team as his case is still pending. Smart has not disclosed whether he will be suspended.

Clay was a four-star recruit who Scout.com ranked as the No. 1 cornerback recruit from Georgia.
