Former Mississippi State guard Malik Newman will transfer to Kansas, he confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

Newman chose Kansas over Western Kentucky, Oregon and North Carolina State. The 6'3" guard played one season with the Bulldogs and had initially declared for the NBA draft before withdrawing his name.

“I'm glad [Kansas] wanted me again,” Newman told ESPN’s Jeff Goodman. "I love the basketball culture at Kansas, the way Bill Self holds guys accountable and love the atmosphere.”

Newman, who went to high school in Mississippi, was recruited by Kansas before he decided to sign with Mississippi State.

Newman averaged 11.3 points per game last season.
