Alabama has suspended offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor indefinitely, the school announced Monday.

Taylor was arrested Sunday and charged with DUI. The senior started all 15 games at right guard for the Crimson Tide last season, helping the school claim its 16th national championship.

Taylor is the third Alabama football player to be arrested in recent months. In May, left tackle Cam Robinson and defensive back Laurence Jones were both arrested on drug possession and weapons charges.

“We are disappointed any time a player makes a choice that leads to this kind of behavior,” Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said in a statement. “We are still in the process of gathering all the details on the situation, but from a football standpoint, Alphonse Taylor has been indefinitely suspended from the team.”

Taylor was picked by the media to the All-SEC preseason second-team at guard. He is not guaranteed a starting spot heading into the regular season.

Alabama will open up against USC on Sept. 3.
