Bucknell to open 2019 season at Temple

(STATS) - Bucknell and Temple have signed a contract to open the 2019 season against each other in Philadelphia.

The first meeting between the two former rivals since 1970 will be played Aug. 31, 2019, at Lincoln Financial Field.

Bucknell and Temple, former members of the Middle Atlantic Conference, played each other in 44 consecutive seasons, starting in 1927. Bucknell, now a Patriot League member, holds a 20-16-8 series lead.

"We feel fortunate to schedule a school like Temple," Bucknell coach Joe Susan said. "They are a historic program and one that Bucknell has a long history with. The opportunity to play against an FBS opponent in an FBS venue is a great opportunity for our program and our student-athletes."
