Missouri has dismissed defensive end Walter Brady and defensive tackle Harold Brantley from the football team, the school’s associate athletics director confirmed Wednesday.

Brady was released due to a violation of team rules, and Brantley will be left off the roster for academic reasons, according to the Columbia Missourian.

Brady, an incoming sophomore, was a fixture of the Tigers’ defensive line last season, starting nine games. He tied the team’s records for sacks with seven, more than any other SEC freshman last season.

Brantley was forced to miss the 2015 season after sustaining several injuries in a car accident in the off-season. He had a strong sophomore season in 2014, compiling five sacks and 54 tackles.

Missouri finished 5-7 in 2015. The Tigers will open up the season against West Virginia on Sept. 3.
