LSU running back Leonard Fournette sprained his ankle during the team’s scrimmage on Tuesday, head coach Les Miles told reporters.

Fournette had to wear a walking boot as a result, but Miles called the sprain "slight" and clarified that it was not a high ankle sprain.

He was injured running up the middle during LSU’s intra-squad play after a tackler fell on his leg, Miles explained. There is no timetable for Fournette’s return at present.

Fournette, a junior, is one of the favorites for this year’s Heisman Trophy after a massive sophomore season in which he set LSU records for rushing yards and touchdowns. His backup is sophomore Derrius Guice.
