Campbell cruises against Bluefield College 59-7

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) De'Shawn Jones ran for 142 yards and three touchdowns, including a 74-yarder in the second quarter, and Campbell ran past NAIA Bluefield 59-7 in its season opener on Saturday.

Elijah Burress added 163 yards passing and 90 more on the ground for two total TD's for the Camels. Overall, Campbell finished with 416 total yards rushing, averaging better than seven yards per attempt.

Trey Sanders returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown early in the first quarter and the Camels never looked back, taking a 42-0 lead into the half and a 52-0 lead after three quarters.

Bluefield struggled to move the ball, finishing with just 139 yards of total offense. Alex Martin and Kenavus Jones led the way, finishing with 41 and 39 yards rushing, respectively. Martin scored the only Rams touchdown.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday but was postponed because of lightning.
