USC linebacker Jabari Ruffin has been suspended for the first half of the upcoming game against Utah State after being ejected against Alabama for stomping on the crotch of Crimson Tide cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, according to Zach Helfand of the Los Angeles Times.

Head coach Clay Helton said Ruffin will also write an apology letter.

As Fitzpatrick was attempting to get up late in the second quarter, USC return man Adoree' Jackson extended his arm out to help him off the turf. Before he could do that, Ruffin stomped right on Fitzpatrick’s groin, causing a scuffle on the field.

Alabama won the game 52–6.
