RB Mills suspended for Ga Tech's home opener against Mercer

ATLANTA (AP) After scoring the winning touchdown in his first college game, Georgia Tech freshman running back Dedrick Mills won't get a chance to play Saturday.

Coach Paul Johnson says Mills and redshirt freshman running back KirVonte Benson have been suspended for the home opener against Mercer for violating team rules. The coach didn't provide any other details about the violation.

Mills rushed for a team-high 68 yards in his debut, including a 4-yard touchdown with 35 seconds remaining that gave the Yellow Jackets a 17-14 victory over Boston College.

Benson has yet to play for Georgia Tech.

Marcus Marshall is expected to start against Mercer.
