Kennesaw State overpowers Point 49-3

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) Chandler Burks threw two touchdowns passes, ran for another score, and Kennesaw State coasted to a 49-3 win over Point University on Saturday night.

Kennesaw State (1-1) scored four straight touchdowns in the first half, including both of Burks' passing TDs and his 51-yard scoring run. Burks threw 3- and 4-yard touchdown passes to Justin Sumpter, who finished with five receptions for 59 yards. Micah Reed ran in a touchdown from the 6 before Point, an NAIA team, got a 29-yard field goal from Wesley Rubiera with 17 seconds left in the half.

In the second half, Trey Chivers and Jonah Huff both ran in touchdowns, while Chaston Bennett caught a 31-yard TD pass from Daniel David. Burks finished 9-of-13 passing for 82 yards and added 138 yards rushing on nine carries.

The Owls had 412 yards rushing while holding Point to 94.
