Dedmon, Cluley lead William & Mary past Hampton, 24-14

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) DeVonte Dedmon had seven receptions for a career-high 168 yards and a touchdown to help William & Mary beat Hampton 24-14 on Saturday night.

Steve Cluley threw for 294 yards and two TDs and Albert Funderburke scored on a 40-yard run for the Tribe (1-1).

Cluley's 20-yard touchdown pass to Jack Armstrong capped a 13-play, 83-yard drive and gave William & Mary a 14-7 lead with 7:50 left in the third quarter. Hampton went three-and-out - and lost six yards - on its next possession and Funderburke scored on the second play of the Tribe's ensuing drive. It was his first career touchdown.

Yahkee Johnson had 115 yards rushing on 12 carries for Hampton (0-2).

William & Mary improved to 7-0 all-time against the Pirates.
