The stakes are higher now: It's time for conference play

Tennessee-Florida and Michigan State-Wisconsin reveal what the early part of the season doesn't ... there is nothing quite like the drama and high stakes of conference play.

Tennessee hasn't beaten Florida in 11 years. With a win, the Volunteers control their destiny in the SEC East. Lose and head coach Butch Jones won't feel quite as secure. In East Lansing, Michigan State and Wisconsin will battle in the trenches in a throwback game to the 80s. Want yards? You'll have to earn them. In Waco, Baylor is out to prove that scandal hasn't ruined the program, while Oklahoma State is set to prove that a rocky start doesn't mean it can't compete for a Big 12 title.

And in Auburn, two coaches with undesirable quarterback situations will try and find a win. The heat will crank up on the loser.

Conference play has arrived.
