Kennesaw State holds off Furman 52-42

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) Kennesaw State's first-quarter touchdowns on runs by Myles White, Chandler Burks and Darnell Holland held up as the Owls withstood a comeback and beat Furman 52-42 on Saturday.

White ran for 30 yards, Burks for 2 and Holland covered 5. Later, Holland ran for a 62-yard score and Burks added another 2-yarder to give the Owls 35-0 lead with eight minutes left before halftime.

Kennesaw State (3-1) led 49-14 at the break.

Reese Hannon rallied the Paladins with three touchdown passes in the third - to Andrej Suttles for 20 yards, Kevin Mall for 5 and Logan McCarter for 8.

Hannon threw for 330 yards, five TDs and two interceptions.

Antonio Wilcox scored on a 21-yard TD run to reduce the deficit to 52-42 with 5:30 remaining in the game.

Holland finished with 123 yards rushing and two TDs.

Furman (0-5) hasn't started a season with five straight losses since 1979.
