Texas and Oklahoma have both disappointed to start the season, but a conference title still could be in reach with a victory at the annual Red River Rivalry in Dallas.

The Longhorns' defensive struggles have been well documented and culminated with head coach Charlie Strong assuming playcalling duties from defensive coordinator Vance Bedford after a 49–31 loss to Oklahoma State.

Texas has allowed at least 47 points in the three of its four games and now faces an Oklahoma team that scored 52 in last week's win against TCU.

Oklahoma's unexpected start to the 2016 season can also be blamed on some lackluster defensive performances. The Sooners are giving up more than 35 points a game this season.

This will be the 111th meeting between the schools. Texas leads the all-time series 61–44–5, including a 24–17 upset victory over the Sooners to reclaim the Golden Hat last season.
