CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) No. 22 North Carolina has lost top deep threat Mack Hollins for the season to a broken right collarbone.

In a news release Monday, UNC said the senior receiver had season-ending surgery Sunday for the injury sustained in the weekend win at Miami.

The 6-foot-4 former walk-on from Rockville, Maryland last year led the country by averaging 24.8 yards per catch, finishing with 30 catches for 745 yards and eight touchdowns. Hollins had a 49-yard catch at Miami, giving him 16 catches for 309 yards and four scores this season.

His 20 career TD catches rank third in school history.

He is also a three-time special teams captain for UNC, playing on punt and kickoff returns.

The Tar Heels (5-2, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit Virginia on Saturday.
