No. 22 Oklahoma State going for 5th straight win in Big 12
Some things to watch in the Big 12 in Week 10, which gets an early start Thursday night with conference-leading No. 12 Oklahoma at Iowa State, which is already guaranteed a losing record this season.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 22 Oklahoma State (6-2, 4-1) at Kansas State (5-3, 3-2). The Cowboys have a four-game winning streak since losing their Big 12 opener at Baylor, including last week when they handed No. 14 West Virginia its first loss. Kansas State is playing its first ranked opponent of the season, and the Wildcats are trying to get their 199th victory under coach Bill Snyder to become bowl eligible. Cowboys QB Mason Rudolph has thrown 17 touchdowns with only two interceptions, while WRs James Washington and Jalen McCleskey have combined for 92 catches for 1,459 yards and 11 TDs .
BEST MATCHUP
TCU (4-4, 2-3) at No. 13 Baylor (6-1, 3-1). This is the 112th meeting in the most-played series for both schools, and is tied 52-52-7. The first meeting was a scoreless tie in 1899. The last three games have been decided by a combined 13 points. TCU won 28-21 in double overtime last year. When the teams last met in Waco two years ago, the Bears won 61-58 with a game-ending field goal after overcoming a 21-point deficit in the final 11 minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes, the national leader for passing and total yards, is also tied for the FBS lead with 38 total touchdowns. ... Oklahoma is 5-0 in Big 12 play for the first time since 2004, and is going for its seventh Big 12 title since then. ... Half of the Big 12's conference games this season have been decided by a touchdown or less. That's the highest percentage among the Power Five leagues for close games. ... Mike Gundy got his 100th win as Oklahoma State's coach last week against West Virginia. ... TCU's 3.9 sacks per game trails only Alabama's 4.0 nationally.
LONG SHOT
Kansas (1-7, 0-5) is a nearly five-touchdown underdog going to No. 14 West Virginia (6-1, 3-1), which is looking to rebound from its first loss. Last season, the Mountaineers scored 28 points in the first quarter at Lawrence on the way to a 49-0 victory. Two years ago in Morgantown, WVU had a 26-0 halftime lead and won 33-14.
IMPACT PERFORMER
Texas RB D'Onta Foreman leads the Big 12 with 158 yards rushing per game, which is second nationally, and already has the Longhorns' first 1,000-yard season since Jamaal Charles in 2007. Foreman has nine consecutive 100-yard rushing games, two off the school record 11 by Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell in 1977.
