Wake Forest QB Hinton out for the season with knee injury

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) Wake Forest is shutting down quarterback Kendall Hinton for the season.

Coach Dave Clawson said Tuesday that Hinton ''tweaked'' his knee again and won't play the rest of the year.

Hinton has missed the last six games with a knee injury and Clawson says the school will apply for a medical redshirt for Hinton after his fourth year in 2018.

Hinton ran for two touchdowns and averaged five yards per carry in three games, but sprained his left posterior cruciate ligament during a victory over Delaware in September.

Before he was hurt, Hinton and third-year starter John Wolford formed a solid one-two punch at the position. The Demon Deacons (6-3, 3-2 ACC) visit No. 5 Louisville on Saturday night having already qualified for their first bowl game since 2011.
