Delaware St. dumps Summit behind Waller's 16 points, 103-56

DOVER, Del. (AP) Kavon Waller scored 16 points shooting 6 for 8 from the floor, and Delaware State held Division III-member Summit to 19 points after halftime in a 103-56 win Friday night.

Kyron Jones' free throw gave Summit a 20-19 lead with 10:28 to play before halftime. Delaware State (1-0) then went on a 36-17 to end the half.

Waller made a 3 with 14:46 to play to give the Hornets a 76-42 lead with 14:46 to play. His four 3s equaled his career high.

DeAndre Haywood added 14 points as did freshman Kobe Gantz and Artem Tavakalyan off the bench. Delaware State shot 40-for-74 (54.1 percent) and 11-for-21 (52.4) from 3-point range.

It was the Hornets' highest point total since a 107-48 win over Cairn on Nov. 9, 2013.

Evan Dougoud led Summit with 17 points. Summit shot 8 for 30 (27 percent) from the floor in the second half.
