Western Illinois trounces Oak Hills Christian 95-48

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) Garret Covington scored 15 points and the Leathernecks shot 60 percent from the floor and used a 52-21 rebounding edge to trounce Oak Hills Christian 95-48 on Sunday night.

Covington, a senior who led Western Illinois (1-1) in nearly every category last season, scored 10 points in the first four minutes, Dalan Ancrum added nine and the Leathernecks jumped to a 28-2 lead and cruised.

Ancrum, a junior, finished with 13 points and Jabari Sandifer, Jalen Morgan and Lynrick Moxey scored 10 apiece. C.J. Duff grabbed 10 rebounds and Western Illinois held a 10-1 advantage on offensive boards.

All but one of the 14 Leathernecks who played scored.

Duke Abalos, a freshman, scored 14 and Moe Blackmon added 12 for Oak Hills Christian (0-8), a National Christian College Athletic Association member. The Wolfpack was held to 30 percent shooting from the floor (18 of 61).
