Eastern Michigan beats NAIA-member Rochester College 78-63

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) James Thompson IV had 19 points and 17 rebounds, Willie Mangum IV made four 3-pointers and scored 14 points, and Eastern Michigan beat NAIA-member Rochester College 78-63 on Tuesday.

Mangum hit his first 3-pointer to give Eastern Michigan a 20-7 lead, Thompson posted a double-double in the first half, and the Eagles cruised into halftime with a 40-23 lead.

Rochester pulled to 54-42 with 13 minutes left in the second half, but Ty Toney answered with a tough layup to start a 12-0 run.

Tim Bond and Ray Lee added 12 points apiece for Eastern Michigan (1-2), which made 7 of 16 3-pointers. Bond grabbed seven rebounds as the Eagles held a 45-34 advantage on the glass.

Angelo Griffis made six of Rochester's 12 3-pointers and had 27 points and 12 rebounds. The Warriors were held to just 20-of-62 shooting (32 percent) and their bench was outscored 25-0.
