Redshirt junior forward Austin Nichols has been dismissed from Virginia's basketball program, the university announced on Friday afternoon.

Nichols served a suspension for the Cavaliers' two preseason scrimmages and the team's home opener at UNC Greensboro on Nov. 11.

“It's a privilege to be a part of this program and Austin has lost that privilege,” head coach Tony Bennett announced. “We have standards for our student-athletes and when those standards aren't met, there are consequences and this is the unfortunate consequence.”

In his lone game for the Cavaliers, Nichols scored 11 points and recorded three rebounds against St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 15.

He sat out the 2015-16 season after transferring from Memphis.
