(STATS) - UC Davis named Dan Hawkins as its new football coach Monday night and scheduled a news conference for Tuesday to introduce the former Boise State and Colorado coach.

Hawkins, 56, played fullback at UC Davis before he began his coaching career there under his former coach, Jim Sochor, in 1983.

He has a 112-61-1 record as a college coach, including 53-11 with four bowl game appearances at Boise State from 2001-05 and 19-39 at Colorado from 2006-10. He also coached at NAIA member Willamette, where he went 40-11-1 from 1993-97, and with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes for five games in 2013 and the U.S. national team in 2015.

Most recently, Hawkins worked as an ESPN analyst.

Hawkins replaces Ron Gould, who was fired last week after going 12-33 in four seasons. The Aggies were 3-8 this season, including 2-6 in the Big Sky Conference.
