Prospect of the week: Jeff Thomas

East St. Louis (Ill.) wide receiver Jeff Thomas completed his dazzling Flyers career and senior season with two touchdowns in the state title game. He routinely came up big in his team's run to the state championship. Speed, explosiveness and just a general knack for making big plays makes him a special prospect. Will he end up in the Big Ten? Illinois seems to be trending a little here, although some say Missouri is still in the hunt despite Thomas publicly crossing them off his list.

Visit of the week: Ambry Thomas

Detroit King's Ambry Thomas will head out to the desert this week to visit Arizona, a school he has maintained he will visit for quite some time as he has a good relationship with the staff. He just visited Penn State officially and the Nittany Lions have moved up the list. Michigan remains the school to beat in the eyes of many and Michigan State and Florida, who he visits next weekend, are in the race as well. An early enrollee, he will come to a decision sometime in the next month.

Prospect on the rise: Kendrick Green

Peoria (Ill.) senior Kendrick Green helped his team to a state title. He was dominant in that final contest as he was throughout his final season. Prior to this season, he was recruited more on offense but emerged as a defensive prospect this summer and the quickness off the ball and general explosiveness and athleticism he demonstrated this year has him in position to move up the rankings. Now he also has time to move towards a college decision with IowaMinnesotaIllinois and UCF among the contenders.

Underclassman of the week: Cameron Martinez

Muskegon (Mich.) Catholic Central freshman Cameron Martinez rushed for 154 yards and scored two touchdowns in his team's state title win. An outstanding athlete, we have seen him play wide receiver, defensive back and now quarterback and he has a shot at playing any of them in college. It will be interesting to see how he develops at quarterback over the next three years as that may be a possibility. Central Michigan has offered and more will come over the next couple of years.

Commit watch: Pete Warner

Indianapolis Cathedral linebacker Pete Werner de-committed from Notre Dame this week shortly after visiting .Ohio State. Werner had a big list of offers prior to his commitment to the Irish and some of them are looking to jump back in with him, but for right now, we are hearing the Buckeyes are out in front, so we are putting him on watch.
