Latest Big Ten recruiting news: 4-star DB Thomas prepares for Michigan visit

The latest recruiting news around the Big Ten.

A Scout 300 junior received a Big Ten offer close to home and some early enrollees are preparing final visits and decisions.

Prospect of the week: Alex Palczewski

Mt. Prospect (Ill.) offensive tackle Alex Palczewski has been a hot prospect of late. It is easy to see why. He is a 6-foot-7 tackle with athleticism and a tenacious playing style on tape. Illinois started off his offer run with Vanderbilt and Syracuse following. MinnesotaIowa and Indiana are among the other Big Ten programs showing some interest, so look for more offers to potentially come his way.

A League Ahead: Inside the Big Ten's return to the top of college football

Visit of the week: Ambry Thomas

Detroit King's Ambry Thomas will be at Michigan this weekend. There are various reports on the Wolverines' standing with him. Michigan State continues to make a push, but the Wolverines will get this official, the last one before the dead period and the last one for Thomas, who will be enrolling early.

Prospect on the rise: Jacob Paulson

Jacob Paulson, a tight end at Christian Academy of Louisville, has a good looking senior tape where he demonstrates athleticism and ability to run routes in a good-sized frame. Paulson visits Minnesota this weekend and the Gophers are considered one of the top, if not the top team in his recruitment. Paulson has offers from several other programs including Pittsburgh.

Underclassman of the week: Kristian Pechac

Bloomington (Ind.) South running back Kristian Pechac is our underclassman of the week. Pechac, a Scout 300 prospect, had a tremendous junior season in which he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 28 touchdowns. He has great size and showed good footwork and agility when we saw him in camps over the offseason and the physical way he runs the ball was evident on his film. Indiana just became his first power-five offer and others should be on the way.

Commit watch? K.J. Hamler

With the contact period ending and the holiday quickly approaching, prospects who are enrolling early will need to begin making their decisions soon. One such prospect is IMG Academy's K.J. Hamler, who will be enrolling in January. Michigan State and Penn State appear to us to be the two schools with the best chance to land his commitment, so no matter which he chooses, look for this electric playmaker in the Big Ten next year.
