Illinois State to face Colorado State in 2018

(STATS) - Illinois State and Colorado State announced a first-ever meeting Sept. 22, 2018 in Fort Collins on Thursday.

Illinois State defeated an FBS opponent this past season, 9-7 at Northwestern.

"I think this game is a great opportunity for our players, and I like to play one of these games at least every other year," Redbirds coach Brock Spack said.

Illinois State, from the Missouri Valley Football Conference, has only faced one other Mountain West team in program history, a Sept. 27, 1997 loss at UNLV.
