Authorities issued a felony warrant charging injured Creighton point guard Maurice Watson with first-degree sexual assault, reports the Omaha World-Herald.

The Omaha, Nebraska police investigated the senior for an alleged sexual assault that took place earlier this month.

Police say that the woman, who is a Creighton student, was assaulted in the bathroom of a residence on Feb. 4 and identified Watson as the person who assaulted her.

The school announced Wednesday that it suspended Watson for an undisclosed violation of university rules, saying Watson was barred from "athletic-related activities for alleged actions that are contrary to university policies and core values.”

Watson is out for the remainder of the season after injuring his knee on Jan. 16 and will not participate in senior day activities with the team for their final home game against St. John's on Tuesdsy.

Creighton, ranked No. 23 in this week's AP poll, is 4–5 without Watson, who led the nation in assists at the time he was injured.
