Cal Poly gets 76-70 win over Cal State Northridge

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) Ridge Shipley scored 17 points, Donovan Fields added 14 more and Cal Poly hung on for a 76-70 win over Cal State Northridge on Thursday night.

The Mustangs were 9 for 10 from the foul line in the final 70 seconds and finished 24 for 32 for the game.

Luke Meikle and Victor Joseph chipped in 12 points each for Cal Poly (11-18, 6-9 Big West Conference), which controlled the boards 40-32.

Cal Poly got a 10-2 run capped with Meikle's 3-pointer to go up 46-40 with 10:24 to play. Fields, who got 14 of his points in the second half, had two buckets and a pair of free throws during the go-ahead run and in a game that included seven lead changes the Mustangs held on from there.

Kendall Smith's 19 points, six rebounds and six assists paced Northridge (11-17, 7-8). Darin Johnson added 15 points and Tavrion Dawson had 14 for the Matadors.
