UAPB seeks considerable improvement in 2017

(STATS) - Arkansas-Pine Bluff will play a pair of FBS opponents during a 2017 schedule in which the Golden Lions hope to rebound in the SWAC.

UAPB enters coach Monte Coleman's 10th season off a 1-10 record last year, with the win over SWAC runner-up Alcorn State.

The Golden Lions, whose 11-game schedule was announced Thursday, will host Morehouse in their season opener Sept. 2. in Pine Bluff. They will then travel to Akron (Sept. 9) and Arkansas State (Sept. 16) to face back-to-back FBS programs.

SWAC programs Mississippi Valley State (Oct. 7) and Grambling State (Nov. 4) as well as Central State (Oct. 14, Homecoming) will visit Golden Lion Stadium, while UAPB will face Southern (Oct. 28) and Texas Southern (Nov. 18) in conference games in Little Rock.

In addition, UAPB will play road conference games against Jackson State (Sept. 23), Alabama A&M (Sept. 30) and Prairie View A&M (Nov. 11).
