ECU coach visits mother of walk-on, surprises her with news her son is receiving scholarship

East Carolina football coach Scottie Montgomery is getting into the Mother's Day spirit early this year. He delivered a special surprise to Tia Chapman, the mother of walk-on defensive end Kiante Anderson, arriving at the elementary school where she works with a scholarship for her son.

ECU's athletic department filmed the surprise visit and posted it in a YouTube video Thursday.

Montgomery brought the news to Chapman before informing her son, allowing her to call the lineman to let him know about the scholarship.

"I just decided to show up today. He loves her. He speaks so highly of her," Montgomery said in the video while walking up to the school.

The moving gesture brought Chapman to tears.
