Herbert, who opted to return to the Ducks (4-1, 2-0) rather than enter the NFL Draft this past offseason, continues to make that decision look better and better with each game. Herbert has completed 71.6% of his passes for 1,341 yards and 15 touchdowns with only one interception.

No. 13 Oregon, though, needed more than Herbert in its, 17-7, win over California on Saturday. All three phases of the game contributed, with Jevon Holland’s 24-yard punt return, setting up a short field Herbert put to good use by directing the go-ahead touchdown drive. Herbert, who finished 20 of 33 for 214 yards, put the game out of reach with a 1-yard scoring pass to Jaylon Redd. Travis Dye added 81 rushing yards, as Oregon finished with 404 yards while holding the Bears to 256 and recording two interceptions.

Colorado (3-2, 1-1) is looking to record its third win over a ranked opponent this season, having beaten then-No. 25 Nebraska and then-No. 24 Arizona State by a combined six points. The Buffaloes, though, suffered their first conference loss Saturday in a 35-30 defeat at Arizona. Steven Montez completed 28 of 42 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown in a game that featured nine lead changes.
