No. 2 Recruit Cade Cunningham Commits to Oklahoma State

Five-star recruit Cade Cunningham committed to Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Cunningham is the No. 2 recruit in the Class of 2020, according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking

The Monteverde Academy product chose Oklahoma State over traditional recruiting power Kentucky. The Cowboys now add an impact 6'6" swingman, one who is likely to be an early lottery pick in the 2021 NBA draft. Oklahoma State will pair Cunningham will fellow top-100 prospect Rondel Walker, a four-star guard from Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma State hired Cunningham's brother, Cannen, to be an assistant on head coach Mike Boynton's staff in June.

"I loved all the schools I visited, and I appreciate each program investing their time and energy into me," Cunningham said in a Twitter video on Tuesday. "To be honest, I was this close to picking a different school. But blood is always thicker than water. Go Pokes."

Oklahoma State has failed to reach the NCAA tournament in each of Boynton's first two years with the program. The Cowboys finished ninth in the Big 12 in 2018-19 at 12–20, 5–13 Big 12. They'll begin their 2019-20 season on Wednesday vs. Oral Roberts.
