An argument between friends during Saturday's LSU-Alabama game led to an Oregon man being arrested on attempted murder charges, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Honey, 51, and his friend were watching the game when they got into a verbal dispute which turned physical. Authorities said Honey shot his friend in the head and neck with a shotgun as the victim was walking away.

Deputies were dispatched to the house and found the victim with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

After authorities surrounded the house, Honey surrendered and was charged with attempted murder, second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon and menacing. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.

KTVZ reports the victim, a 40-year-old man from Biddeford, Maine, was released from the hospital.
