Toledo DE Terrance Taylor Suspended After Nasty Targeting Hit

Toledo defensive end Terrance Taylor has been handed a one-game suspension after his nasty targeting hit on Northern Illinois quarterback Ross Bowers, coach Jason Candle announced on Thursday.
Taylor was ejected for targeting during the third quarter of Wednesday night's game between the Rockets and Huskies. After a fake handoff, Bowers slipped while running and fell onto the turf. Bowers popped up on his knees just before Taylor came in with a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit from behind.
The hit was originally called a personal foul on the field but was changed to targeting after the play was reviewed.
Yep, that's about as textbook as it gets for targeting.

Under NCAA rules, Taylor is required to miss the first half of Toledo's next game against Buffalo on Nov. 20 for the penalty. However, Candle suspended Taylor for the entire game and said he thought the sophomore's actions required a stronger punishment.
"We are disappointed this play occurred," Candle said in a statement. "It's not something we coach. We'll use it as a teaching tool for our team on the value of discipline in emotional times."
The Huskies beat the Rockets 31–28 on a late field goal.
