Angel Reese Explains Why LSU Didn’t Want Jill Biden in Locker Room Before National Title Game

LSU star Angel Reese opened up more about her thoughts regarding First Lady Jill Biden originally sending an invite to both the Tigers and runners-up Iowa after Sunday’s national title game.

Even though the First Lady has since clarified her comments and only extended an invite to the national champions, Reese admitted on the I AM ATHLETE podcast this week that she doesn’t “accept” the apology.

Prior to receiving the White House invitation, Reese revealed that LSU almost had a different interaction with the first lady. The Tigers star said on the podcast that the team turned down an opportunity for Jill Biden to speak to them in the locker room ahead of Sunday’s title game.

“Apparently she was supposed to come to our locker room before the game, but we said no,” Reese said. “We said we didn’t want her coming to the locker room. I think Joe Biden had put somebody else to win the national championship, he ain’t even put us in his bracket to get out of Baton Rouge.”

Reese noted that she didn’t know if the First Lady visited the Hawkeyes before the game or not.

The president had LSU losing in the second round to Michigan, just as Reese remembered. The Tigers took that personally and didn’t want the first lady coming into the locker room ahead of the title game, which they ended up winning to claim the program’s first national championship.
