Alabama’s Jahvon Quinerly Announces He’s Entering Transfer Portal

Alabama men’s basketball star Jahvon Quinerly announced Sunday evening that he’d be entering the transfer portal.

Quinerly released a statement on social media in which he thanked Crimson Tide fans for their support over the past three seasons.

“The relationships I’ve built have gone way beyond basketball and that’s something that has made my decision to enter the transfer portal so difficult for me,” wrote Quinerly in part of his statement

“My basketball journey has been something that any student-athlete could only dream about. It has definitely come with its shares of ups and downs but I was very fortunate to have such a beautiful support system to help me through some of my difficult moments and I think that’s what’s making this message so emotional but also so exciting to share with everyone.”

Because he’s a graduate transfer, Quinerly won’t require a waiver and will thus be immediately eligible to play for whatever program he lands with. His next school will be his third in the NCAA, having started his collegiate career at Villanova.

Quinerly, a former five-star recruit from the class of 2018, transferred to Alabama for his redshirt sophomore season. He tore his ACL in March of 2022, which led to head coach Nate Oats utilizing him in a bench role last season, when he averaged 8.7 points, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game.
