Colorado’s Deion Sanders Says He Slept in His Office the Night Before Nebraska Game

The Buffaloes first-year coach is solely focused on his team’s battle against the Cornhuskers.

While Colorado is front and center of the college football landscape after Week 1, head coach Deion Sanders’s mission has not changed.

Last week, Colorado shocked then-No. 17 TCU 45–42 in Fort Worth, Texas. As Colorado faces Nebraska in its home opener on Saturday, Sanders revealed that he slept in his office in preparation for the Buffaloes' game.

“I wanted to wake up and see the stadium,” Sanders said on FOX Sports Big Noon Kickoff ahead of the game. “I wanted to wake up and feel it. I wanted to see it empty then see the transformation. That’s pretty much what we’re doing.”

From the moment Colorado named Sanders as the team’s next coach, the Pro Football Hall of Famer has been on a mission to rebuild the program. In 2022, the Buffaloes finished 1–11 and were considered one of the worst teams in college football.

A year later, after a massive roster overhaul—bringing in 53 new players from the transfer portal—and a new mindset, Sanders is seeking to restore a culture of winning football in Boulder, Colorado.
