Missouri Shares Incredible Sky View of Game-Winning Kick, Epic Field Storm
Missouri's 30–27 upset of No. 15 Kansas State was so strange, so compelling, and so uniquely college football.
The game appeared headed for overtime with six seconds left, when the Tigers incurred a potentially gutting delay of game penalty on the Wildcats’ 39-yard line. Two plays later, kicker Harrison Mevis strode onto the field and calmly bombed a 61-yard field goal to give Missouri the victory.
The real winner, though, was the Tigers’ athletic department—who captured on video the winning field goal and subsequent field-storming from above.
The video showed Mevis’s kick splitting the uprights as fans screamed and engulfed Faurot Field in a sea of black and gold.
Missouri's win was a much-needed feather in the cap of coach Eli Drinkwitz, and marked the highest-ranked opponent the Tigers have beaten since topping No. 13 Florida 38–17 on Nov. 3, 2018.
Unbeaten at 3–0, Missouri will host Memphis next Saturday evening while Kansas State welcomes new conference foe UCF.
