Warren Sapp Wants to Join Deion Sanders at Colorado After Meeting Eager Players
Warren Sapp says he's ready to join Deion Sanders's coaching staff in Colorado in 2024.
Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, the Hall of Famer claimed he plans to join Coach Prime in Boulder next season. In 2020, there were rumors that Sapp would be on Sanders’s Jackson State staff. That didn’t happen, but Sanders extended an open invitation to Sapp to coach part-time during an appearance on Eisen’s show last week.
What has changed over the past three years? First, Sapp earned his college degree. But more importantly, he met Colorado players who were eager to learn from one of football's best defensive tackles.
"For the first time in my life, I was loved on by some defensive lineman and they wanted to know, like, the keys to the vault," Sapp told Eisen. "I've never had anybody shake my pockets like that and ask for keys to the vault."

“I had five, six young men around me that were basically ready to strip-search me,” Sapp continued. “Like, ‘I know that there’s a key to this somewhere that you’re gonna give me for this.’ And they’re willing to work. They infected me. And I told Prime before I left, ‘I’m coming back.’”
Typically, coaches recruit players to a college football program. But occasionally, it can work the other way around. That appears to be what gave Sapp a coaching itch that he needs to scratch.
