Johnny Manziel Offers to Help Texas A&M In ‘Any Capacity’ After Jimbo Fisher Firing
Former Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel believes he can help the Aggies football team in its next chapter after the program fired coach Jimbo Fisher on Sunday.
The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner tweeted Monday on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he is willing to support the team in any way he can. Fisher was dismissed with a 45-25 record in six seasons with the Aggies, who are 6-4 this season.
“I have faith in the @TAMU leadership to put somebody in place to get us to where we need to be. The pieces for success are in the building. However I can help in any capacity I would love nothing more 👍🏼,” Manziel wrote.
Fisher was coming off a 51-10 victory against Mississippi State on Saturday. Despite the lopsided win, Aggies athletic director Ross Bjork said he felt program had become stagnant and deemed that it was “stuck in neutral.”
“I determined, at this point, and for lots of reasons, our program is stuck in neutral. We should be relevant on the national scene. Something is not working, something is not clicking, and therefore, something had to give in order for Aggie football to reach our full potential,” Bjork said, per ESPN’s Paul Finebaum.
