UCLA Recruits Suspected in Theft From Colorado Locker Room at Rose Bowl

One of the more peculiar stories involving the Colorado football program during Deion Sanders’s first year as coach has been resolved. Following the Buffaloes’ Week 8 matchup with UCLA at the Rose Bowl, several Colorado players said jewelry was stolen from their locker room. 

Approximately two weeks later, Pasadena police confirmed that the items were stolen by high school recruits who were on an official visit to UCLA. The names of the recruits have not been revealed, but according to On3, the players are believed to attend Beaumont High School in Riverside County. 

News of the suspects’ being identified circulated over the weekend, leading to confirmation by police.

Previously, Sanders called on the NCAA to investigate the crime and suggested the Rose Bowl should reimburse the three Colorado players for what had been stolen. However, the suspects were identified within days of the theft and the stolen items were returned. 

Yet to be revealed by police is why the recruits were able to enter Colorado’s locker room at the Rose Bowl unsupervised. In a statement, Pasadena police said the investigation was ongoing and more information would follow. Neither UCLA nor the Rose Bowl has commented on the situation.
