Will Rogers Transferring From Mississippi State to Washington, per Report
No. 2 Washington will reportedly welcome a top-notch quarterback to replace departing star Michael Penix Jr. next season after landing coveted transfer Will Rogers on Friday night.
Rogers, a four-year standout at Mississippi State, confirmed his commitment to Washington with his official visit underway for the weekend, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports.
With one year of eligibility remaining, Rogers’s decision to join the Huskies will end a successful run with the Bulldogs that saw the Mississippi native become the SEC’s No. 2 all-time passer with 12,315 yards.
Rogers, a longtime Mississippi State quarterback, made his commitment decision during his visit to Washington.

His last year at MSU brought its share of hardships on and off on the field, most notably with the death of coach Mike Leach late in the 2022 season. The Bulldogs finished the ’23 season with a 5–7 record as Rogers tallied a career-low 1,626 yards after playing in just eight games due to injury.
As Rogers looks for a fresh start in Seattle, the 6' 2" senior couldn’t have picked a better program more tailored to his skillset.
Washington’s offense, led by coach Kalen DeBoer and coordinator Ryan Grubb, posted a NCAA-best 343.8 passing yards per game. Meanwhile, Penix, a redshirt senior, turned in a Heisman-caliber campaign, finishing second for the award while leading the Huskies (13–0) to the Pac-12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance.
