Gus Johnson Incredibly Dropped Eminem Lyrics During USC QB Miller Moss’s Monster Bowl Game

The 2000s called, and it turns out it’s still hip to spit bars of Eminem’s Lose Yourself in daily conversation.

Fox Sports announcer Gus Johnson made himself a national treasure when he did just that on live television during the USC TrojansLouisville Cardinals Holiday Bowl matchup Wednesday.

In the Trojans’ 42—28 win, redshirt sophomore Miller Moss threw for 372 yards and six touchdowns in his first career start. With 2022 Heisman winner Caleb Williams out as expected, Moss had an opportunity to shine at PETCO Park, and speaking of opportunities… well, Gus Johnson just couldn’t resist.

In the fourth quarter, Johnson told play-by-play announcer Joel Klatt, “Just looking at Miller Moss and what he’s done, I feel like I’m listening to Eminem.”

When probed why, Johnson started to rap a few lines of the famous Lose Yourself chorus: “You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity comes once in a lifetime.”

Johnson’s monotonous delivery of the verse only made the moment funnier, even if it was a little corny.

Moss did not, in fact, miss his chance to “blow” and helped USC win its first bowl game since defeating Penn State in the Rose Bowl after the 2016 season. After the victory, coach Lincoln Riley declined to name Moss as the starter for next season, but if the young signal-caller keeps up the production, he should get several more shots to secure the job.
