Deion Sanders, Colorado Land Son of Wrestling Legend Goldberg After Nick Saban Retirement

Much ink was spilled on coach Deion Sanders' first year at Colorado in 2023, and a significant amount of that ink covered the way in which Sanders injected a professional wrestling sensibility into college football.

Indeed, coaches were quick to react to Sanders' promo-cutting image when they crossed paths with the Buffaloes, with both positive and negative results.

However, it appears that Colorado will be leaning into the world of wrestling even more in 2024, as the Buffaloes have landed a commitment from the son of WWE royalty.

Linebacker Gage Goldberg—the son of Bill Goldberg, a WWE Hall of Famer and former Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman—has committed to Colorado as a preferred walk-on, he told TMZ Tuesday morning.

"It's just a huge decision. It's not based on who's got the coolest uniforms. It's based on who's gonna take care of you the most and where you have the best opportunity, both on and off the field," Bill Goldberg told TMZ.

The younger Goldberg said he'd been close to committing to Alabama, with DukeNC State and UCF also in the running.

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban's retirement, however, changed everything, and now Gage is set to play for his father's former Falcons teammate.
